Centrifugal Pump with advanced Seal technology for pharmaceutical process
For pharmaceutical applications, the FPV centrifugal pump is available with three advanced mechanical sealing options, which depend upon operating temperature, process fluid, sterility requirement and cleaning methods. The seal options serve a different purpose. The pressurised double-seal flush systems that maintain positive pressure in the critical seal area to ensure product sterility and prevent flashing. The front seal flush is a recirculation loop which saves valuable products. The internal seal design provides extra cooling and lubrication on the front seal face to significantly extend seal life and enhance system uptime. The typical pharma applications are APIs, sterile formulations, solvents, and crystallised products and FDA compliant with passivated and tested for sterile application.

Seal Options
Fristam’s pressurized double-seal flush keeps the area protected and lasts much longer under demanding plant conditions. C-Cooling lowers seal temperature for hot pharmaceutical liquids, helping reduce wear over time. Diamond seal works without external cooling and fit WFI or purified water applications, delivering long service life while keeping maintenance requirements very low.Material of Construction
Product-contact components are machined from 316L (1.4404), 1.4435, 1.4462 or 1.4539 stainless steel, with Hastelloy and titanium available for harsher process fluids. Cast chrome, ceramic, silicon carbide, tungsten carbide or carbon are available for the mechanical seal, matched to whichever piping configuration a process needs, including single seal setups. Picking the right combination protects the seal face against abrasive or aggressive fluids. Get this wrong, and seal replacement turns into a recurring line item nobody budgeted for.Surface Finishes
Pharmaceutical pumps need very smooth surface finish to meet the hygiene standards of ASME BPE (bioprocessing equipment) design, and SF4 is often the expected finish. Fristam delivers that without cutting corners. Internal products with contact surface finish achieve Ra ≤ 0.38 µm through electropolishing which smooths and protects the stainless steel.External surfaces are CNC machined to reach nearly 0.8 Ra for a clean finish. Some sterile applications also require an SF1 mechanically polished finish with Ra ≤ 0.51 µm. The cleaning process includes degreasing, pickling, electropolishing, passivation, and a final hot DI water rinse. Every surface is inspected carefully before it leaves production.
